Learning Objectives:

After completing this course, learners should be able to:

  • identify the importance of visiting a school to see the workspace prior to the day of service.
  • describe the importance of the infection prevention and control plan related to a school sealant program, including the proper use of respirators and
    knowing the daily PPE burn rate.
  • explain important aspects of transporting dental instruments to and from the school.
  • describe the ideal workspace and proper dental unit set-up in a school to support infection control and safety for the dental health care personnel (DHCP) and students.
  • identify the type of dental sealant material that will not create aerosols during placement.
  • describe steps the DHCP should do if they feel ill in the morning or during the workday.
