This course emphasizes cleaning and disinfection, respiratory disease agents, respiratory hygiene and provides information on COVID-19. Resources are cited to help the Infection Control Coordinator (ICC) maintain and communicate the importance of the Safest Dental Visit™. 

Strategies for implementing COVID-19 guidance in dental settings are based upon Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) guidance, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this course, learners should be able to:

• describe the importance of cleaning before disinfection and sterilization.
• list what is needed to provide respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette for incoming patients and visitors.
• give examples of respiratory diseases and causative agents.
• describe the three COVID-19 vaccines approved for use in the U.S.
