Package Description

This course underscores dental sharps safety with a workplace scenario showing how the lack of a safety culture puts workers at risk for injuries. Strategies include implementing OSHA-required methods to seek and evaluate safer dental devices that offer sharps injury protections. Charted examples of engineering and work practice controls provide a valuable job aid for sharps safety.

Resources include where to find information on procedures for the medical evaluation of employees exposed to patients’ blood or saliva due to sharps injury. Interactive learning opportunities include a photo and video quiz and a team huddle discussion guide.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this course, learners should be able to:

• define engineering controls and work practices controls and give examples of each.
• describe the OSHA-required procedures for evaluating devices with sharps injury protections.
