What all goes into proper handpiece maintenance? It's one of the biggest misunderstood pieces of equipment we have in our practices, and yet it's one of the busiest pieces of equipment we use! When they go down, it puts a strain on our day. Join us as we discuss many avenues of dental handpieces and what it takes to care for them.

Learning Objectives:

1. Describe what dental unit waterline contamination has to do with our dental handpieces
2. Identify how to properly care for and maintain these valuable pieces of equipment
3. Discuss dental burs care and what we are supposed to be doing with them!

Tija was named one of the Top 25 Women in Dentistry by Dental Products Report Magazine. In 2023 she was named a DENOBI award winner. She is a member of the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) where she holds the honor of Master. Tija is a contributor to many dental publications. She is the director of the Dental Careers Institute. Tija is also the author of over 10 CE study courses, a book on motivation; Rock Star Dental Assistant, and a Dental Compliance Calendar. She sits on the editorial board for the Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention. She is an international speaker and is a certified trainer in nitrous oxide in several states.  Tija is an authorized OSHA trainer.
