The Patient’s Perception of Your Workplace

A crucial workplace scenario details an unsettling event prompting the dental team to critically evaluate their clinical and environmental safety practices and also from the patient’s perspective. Strategies are presented for ongoing training and monitoring of workplace safe practices and how to effectively communicate these practices to both the dental team and patients. Summary charts call out infection risks and patient perceptions of incorrect clinical practices/conditions. Training tools feature a discussion guide, a photo quiz and a video quiz. Cited are references to trusted resources. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

After completing this course, learners should be able to: 

  1. Evaluate clinical cleanliness and organization from the patient’s perspective.
  2. Recognize and remedy clinical actions that lead to cross-contamination.
  3. Plan strategies to create and communicate a culture of safety within their team.
  4. Communicate safety processes and culture to patients.
