Package Description

This presentation will identify risks in the dental care of patients and how they can be mitigated with the training of staff and modifications to the practice pattern from the perspective of the pediatric dentist. The presentation will address ways to evaluate safety culture in practice, the continuum of risk, and its mitigation from a patient-centered model through the orbits of personnel, the practice environment, the digital universe, and the environment. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry's COVID experience and its online system of risk identification and mitigation, as exemplified by the response to COVID, as well as its ongoing address of sedation safety and identification of potential risks in innovation and product design will demonstrate one dental specialty's approach to arming its providers and protecting patients in a dynamic care environment.
