Package Description

Infection control in mobile dental programs is equally important as infection control in the fixed dental clinic, however, traveling with a dental office proposes potential risks that must be considered to ensure a safe dental visit for all. This session will highlight potential challenges specific to infection control during mobile/portable dentistry and participants will be asked to think ‘outside the fixed operatory’ to foresee potential risks and to consider what steps can be taken to prevent them.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Discuss the importance of including high-quality infection control procedures in mobile dental programs and the ethical implications within mobile dentistry.
2. List three important safety steps to take while transporting sterile and infectious dental instruments.
3. Name at least three easy-to-find items that can be used to support worker and patient safety in a mobile dental office that is not located in a dental supply catalog.
4. Identify three online resources for guidance in school-based dental sealant programs.
