In this session, the presentation will summarize the newest CDC recommendations for hepatitis B virus testing and screening, a bloodborne pathogen that is significant in the oral health setting. We will discuss the new guideline as well as explain the significance of HBV in oral health settings as well as infection control measures relevant to this pathogen.

  1. Interpret results of hepatitis B virus (HBV) serology testing
  2. List populations impacted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) updated HBV screening and testing guidance
  3. Describe the rationale for CDC’s updated recommendations

Roza Tammer, MPH, CIC

Roza Tammer is the Infectious Disease Epidemiologist in the Oregon Health Authority's Healthcare-Associated Infections Program, where her focus is infection control, outbreak response, and workforce development. She has worked in state-level HAI Programs in New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Oregon, and is an alumnus and advisory board member for the California Epidemiologic Investigation Service. Roza earned an MPH in Epidemiology of Microbial Disease from the Yale School of Public Health in 2012 and a Certification in Infection Control in 2016.
