This session will describe how to animate organizational values and create alignment behind them to foster a self-governing culture of compliance. We will make the case for inspiring employees through purpose to act as individual leaders around compliance, infection prevention, and safety. You will see how this is different and more effective than attempting to motivate people through performance-based rewards and expectations. You will learn how this approach supports a compliance culture that will, minimally, pivot your posture to one of proactive risk mitigation rather than being constrained to react to incidents. Importantly, you will see how this creates strategic differentiation for your business. We will focus on how to deploy this program to optimize infection prevention and safety in the dental practice and minimize adverse events.

Michael Williamson, JD, CHC, CCEP
Michael Williamson is the Chief Compliance Officer/Chief Privacy Officer for Pacific Dental Services LLP. He has been a compliance and ethics professional specializing in health care compliance for over 20 years. He is passionate about leveraging organizational values and culture to optimize risk mitigation. Michael is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the New York Bar. He founded a law practice that specialized in all aspects of healthcare compliance, served as Assistant General Counsel in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Health & Human Services, and has held Chief Compliance Officer, V.P.
Shari Landes, RDA
Shari Landes is the Senior Back-Office Compliance Manager for Pacific Dental Services, where she has worked for the past 15 years. She has been in the dental industry for over 40 years as a registered dental assistant, treatment coordinator, back-office supervisor, and instructor at a vocational college. Shari is currently a member of OSAP and ADAA, and she has presented engagements with both organizations. Her goal and passion is to do everything possible to create a safe environment for all PDS supported offices and everyone around her, not just for patients but also for every team member.
Stephanie Oxford, EFDA
Ms. Oxford is a Specialist in back-office compliance at Pacific Dental Services. She currently lives in Smithville, MO. Her hobbies include spending time with her beautiful granddaughter. She recently achieved her OSAP-DALE Foundation Dental Infection Prevention and Control Certificate.
