CDC NIOSH Activities to Address Occupational Health and Safety Issues in Dental Settings (On-Demand)

This presentation will provide an update on the current research efforts of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in dental settings. Recent NIOSH publications and Health Hazard Evaluations evaluating occupational health and safety issues in dental settings will be reviewed.  In addition, future research directions will be discussed, including the NIOSH Strategic Plan, as well as an update on the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA).

  2. Describe the study design and findings of NIOSH research studies in dental settings.
  3. Identify future NIOSH studies with further implications for dental settings.

Instructors

Megan Casey, BSN, MPH, RN, CIC

CDR Megan Casey, RN, BSN, MPH, CIC is currently a Nurse Epidemiologist and Team Lead at NIOSH’s National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory. Megan also currently serves as a Commander in the U.S. Public Health Service where she has deployed for Hurricanes Irma/Maria, Zika virus response and unaccompanied minors at the U.S. border. She came to NIOSH as a CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer in 2014 conducting workplace health hazard evaluations and performing occupational health surveillance.
