This session will provide an overview of nitrous oxide safety in dentistry. Topics covered will include occupational hazards, physical hazards, and engineering and administrative controls. Additionally, employee and environmental monitoring with nitrous oxide and related healthcare accreditation implications will be discussed.

Instructors

Brian Hroch, MPH, CIH, CSP, REHS, RS

Brian Hroch (Rock) is a Regulatory Affairs Program Manager with Centura Health, a 17 hospital system in Colorado and western Kansas, where he provides regulatory and healthcare accreditation support to the Centura's healthcare facilities and staff; with a specialty in industrial hygiene, safety management, emergency management, infection prevention and healthcare accreditation. Brian is also a retired United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Officer, where he most recently served as an Industrial Hygiene and Safety Manager with the Indian Health Service, Albuquerque Area. Brian is a graduate of the IHS Institutional Environmental Health Residency, where he earned his Master of Public Health from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health from Ohio University. Brian is also a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) and has more than 28 years of public and private sector experience with industrial hygiene, safety management, healthcare accreditation, infection control, radiation protection and emergency management.
