Updates from CDC Division of Oral Health and CDC Guidelines, Recommendations, and Resources(On-Demand)

CDC’s Division of Oral Health (DOH) provides leadership to improve the nation’s oral health. They promote proven interventions, such as community water fluoridation and dental sealants, to reduce the rate of cavities, especially for populations at the highest risk. DOH supports state, territorial, and tribal oral health programs, collects surveillance data on oral diseases, and develops and promotes adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines for dental health care personnel. The division supports the integration of medical and dental care to address other chronic diseases associated with poor oral health. DOH also has a residency training program to help strengthen the dental public health workforce.

Topics covered in this presentation will include DOH’s strategic priorities, budget, and main program and activities; a summary of current CDC research projects; updates to CDC’s Interim Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Healthcare Personnel During the Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic; and statuses of additional CDC infection prevention and control guideline updates. This presentation will also review the guidelines, recommendations, and resources on the DOH website.
