Operatory Preparation: Environmental Infection Control, Managing Waste, and Laboratory Infection Control (On-Demand)

In the dental operatory, environmental surfaces can become contaminated during patient care. Certain surfaces, especially ones touched, can serve as reservoirs of microbial contamination. This session will provide a detailed overview of the critical steps of cleaning, disinfecting, barrier-protecting, and treatment planning to ensure the safety of dental health care personnel (DHCP) and patients and efficient oral health care delivery. This session will also tie together regulations, recommendations, and day-to-day operations to properly handle biological, chemical, and pharmaceutical waste in the dental environment.
